Text Box: When Frank and Agnita McCaslin opened the first Sparkle Learning Center in 1976, their goal was to help children succeed in school by reaching their full potential. Adhering to this one basic principle, Sparkle  has grown, but the focus has always remained the same.

Sparkle is a performing arts and computer literacy program designed for inner city students from low-income families in our community.  The program will utilize dance and theater to teach the history of the arts and reinforce humanitarian values.  In addition, this program offers skills training in the area of technology, as well as basic educational services.

The program, which the creators envision, is multifaceted, comprehensive and innovative.  The neighborhood has a tremendous need for an affordable performing arts and technology program.

The performing arts component will be available to underprivileged as well as privileged youths.  It will consist of an arts, dance, and theatre program that builds self-confidence and communication abilities in the participant.  The technology component will reinforce conventional education with computers:  teach problem solving; increase math, reading, and spelling skills; and develop technical skills.  We anticipate that thirty-five (35) at risk students per semester and fifty (50) students during the summer months for a total of 85 participants yearly.

We have the enthusiastic cooperation of the county, city, and district leaders as well as community & educational groups and other private organizations.
